Acceptance of Terms

By accessing our website and utilizing our car rental services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not use our services.

These terms form a legally binding contract between you (the "Renter") and Smart Rentals (the "Company"). You must read and accept these terms before finalizing any booking.

Driver Eligibility & Requirements

To rent a vehicle with Smart Rentals, the primary driver and any additional authorized drivers must meet the following criteria:

Age Requirement: Drivers must be at least 21 years old. Drivers under 25 may be subject to a young driver surcharge.

Valid License: A full, valid driver's license held for a minimum of 12 consecutive months. Probationary or learner permits are not accepted.

Payment Method: A valid credit card in the primary driver's name must be presented at pick-up for the security deposit.

Bookings, Payments & Deposits

All bookings are subject to vehicle availability. The price shown at checkout includes the daily rate, standard insurance, and GST.

  • Payment: Full payment of the rental period is required at the time of booking.
  • Security Deposit: A pre-authorization will be placed on your credit card at pick-up. This amount varies by vehicle tier and insurance selected, and will be released upon the safe return of the vehicle.
  • Extensions: If you wish to extend your rental, you must contact us before your current rental period expires. Extensions are subject to availability.

Transparent Pricing

We guarantee no hidden fees. The price you are quoted at checkout is exactly what you pay, provided the vehicle is returned on time, full of fuel, and without damage.

Vehicle Usage Rules

The rental vehicle must be operated responsibly and strictly within the law. The following restrictions apply to all rentals:

Prohibited Uses:You may not use the vehicle for ridesharing (Uber, Didi, etc.), off-road driving, towing, racing, or transporting illegal goods. Smoking and pets are strictly prohibited in all vehicles.

Insurance & Liability

Standard comprehensive insurance is included with all rentals, subject to an excess/deductible amount. In the event of an accident or damage:

  • You are liable for damage up to the excess amount stated in your rental agreement.
  • You must report any accidents or damage to Smart Rentals and the police (if required) within 24 hours.
  • Insurance may be voided if the vehicle is driven recklessly, under the influence of drugs/alcohol, or by an unauthorized driver.

Traffic Infringements

You are entirely responsible for all parking fines, speeding tickets, and toll charges incurred during your rental period. An administration fee may apply for processing these fines.

Cancellation Policy

Flexible Cancellations:

Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the scheduled pick-up time are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations made within 48 hours of pick-up may incur a fee equivalent to one day's rental.
